It's been awhile

Well, nothing much has been happening on our renos so I haven't been here to tell you anything. Today though we started work on our girls rooms. They picked out their paint colours and we bought the paint and then prepped Jesula's(soon to be Katie's)room. Katie's room is going to have the 2 green colours and Denia and Jesula's room is going to have the lighter green and the purple
Somewhere in this process Katie and Jesula are going to switch rooms so the younger 2 will be together instead of the older 2. I can't wait to see these colours on the walls.

Living Room Complete

Here are some pics of the living room mostly complete. We do want to get new furniture but that will happen at the end once our addition is done.

Now we plan to work on the girls rooms and the main bathroom.

This is the coffered ceiling. Ryan will be adding embossed ceiling tiles in between the beems. They will be painted a metallic copper colour once we find some paint we like.

He also laquered our front door
Here is hte new trim around the bay windowAs you can see the trim is almost the same colour as the wall but we are going to be painting those walls too so the real effect of the trim will not be seen til that happens. But there are other things to come first.

Start of Spring?

Well, Yesterday I was very happy to see the last of February's snow disappear. We had a lot of snow in February and it took a lot of warm days but it was all gone. So we felt like spring was here.

NOT!!! See what happened last night.

Those who are in Alberta will realize that this is quite normal really and that it will probably happen a few more times before we hit a couple weeks of real summer before this weather pattern starts again in the fall.

Start of our Home Renovation/Addition

So Yesterday we officially started our home reno. We ripped out the living room carpet. Picture with carpet(taken in Summer) and without carpet

And then Ryan started putting in our laminate flooring. He was having a rough time with it as it did not want to stay together. But he got a bit done in the hall way.

His hands were pretty cut up from ripping out the smooth edge, something that is not at all smooth but full of small nails sticking up to hold the carpet in place. He also had a piece of smooth edge stuck in his hind end. Too bad it was out of there too fast to get the picture.
We discovered some interesting lino underneath the carpet at the front entrance.

Katie thinks we should keep it.

So tonight Ryan plans to get the hallway finished and hopes to have more luck since he talked to the "experts" while at work today. So here he is hard at work.
